There Is No Place Like Home

Part I

"The wind carried her
The sound of war-drums
Over a ravenous wasteland
Howling like a black monster
From the depths of hell.
He would be feasting tonight
So I clutched my sword to my chest
And closed my eyes
To stare into the mouth of the beast.

No light welcomes it's seething jaws
Unquenched save for screams of pain.
The night is cold and shadows never end
Only terror lives here within these walls
A prison that drives the wildest men mad.

Still he hunts us; the scent of
Blood upon his lips; where only
Fire and smaug lays our bones to rest.
It's useless to run away
Even though we may fight
Death reminds us there
Is no place...like home."
(To be continued...)
